How it works, and what to expect
- Your file never leaves the device. There is no server: the video is decoded and re-encoded by this page inside your browser. You can unplug the network after the page has loaded.
- The cut plays once while it is saved. A browser cannot copy a piece of a compressed video without re-encoding it, so the tool plays the part you kept and records it again. A 30-second clip takes about 30 seconds. You will not hear it while it records.
- What comes out: WebM (VP9 video, Opus audio), the same picture size as the original, without the frames outside your range.
- What it does not do: joining several clips, adding titles, or changing the resolution. For that you need a real editor.
- Save this frame writes a PNG of the current picture, with no re-encoding at all - useful for thumbnails.
